My Background ~ 15 Years ExperienceI decided to study Psychology as an undergraduate because I've always been interested in what makes people act the way they do and what lies at our essence. A native of Saint Augustine, Florida, I completed my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at the University of Florida, where I served as a research assistant gathering data for publications, including this article on Tourette's and Tic Disorder that I received co-authorship on.
I’ve spent 15 years helping people find their way through difficult times. From working with teenagers in foster care to supporting families in crisis, I’ve learned that everyone’s story makes sense when you take the time to listen. After becoming fully licensed in 2013 while working in Intensive In-Home Therapy, I began providing outpatient individual and family therapy at Universal, where I worked for 10 years. I believe that people make sense, and I help people make sense of themselves. Providing individualized, culturally competent interventions to underserved people is my mission. I'm not a fan of labels; I'm here to help you make sense of yourself. I believe you are the expert of your own life, and my job is to walk alongside you with respect and without judgment. |
Who I Am
I'm nerdy, nurturing, and enthusiastic. I experience deep satisfaction in knowing that I have significantly helped a person, which has become part of my identity. I'm the kind of environmentalist who focuses all on my own environmental impact and pride myself on planting trees and putting my clothes on my clothesline. I stay involved with my community of friends and intentional groups, such as song circles, and support local musicians. I'm a people person; I'm humorous, and outspoken yet sensitive.
My hobbies include gardening, yoga, dancing, swimming, and hiking. When I realize there is a stick in my hair in the evening, it's been a great day! I meditate daily and practice Open Heart meditation as part of self-care and Spirituality. I studied Heart-Based Therapeutics, which teaches that we each have an innate longing to feel completely safe and unconditionally loved. When one learns to feel safe living with an open heart, a natural state of peace and wholeness occurs that is like a baby resting in the gentleness of the mother's arms. My intention is to bring this peace and fulfilment into my work on a daily basis. |
